At the annual MIC Forum held on April 16, the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) unveiled its latest findings, indicating a significant rise in the global share of AI PCs and a remarkable penetration rate exceeding 10% for AI phones in 2024.

For AI PCs, the estimated penetration rate for 2024 stands at approximately 15.7%. With major processor manufacturers poised to introduce new platforms with enhanced AI capabilities in the latter half of 2024, and with the continuous expansion of the PC supply chain through ecosystem expansion and reinforcement of existing services to foster AI applications, coupled with the launch of AI PCs with more comprehensive software and hardware integration by major PC brands in 2025, the penetration rate of AI PCs is forecasted to grow from 33% in 2025 to 65.9% in 2027.

In 2024, the penetration rate of AI phones is estimated to be 10.6%. All eyes will be on whether Apple introduces generative AI in the iPhone 16 series this year. As smartphone brands make advancements, there is an expected rise in the adoption of generative AI in mid-range smartphones after 2025. This development is forecasted to significantly boost AI phone shipments. MIC predicts a penetration rate of 42% for AI phones by 2027.
