Trade Fight Continues to Have its Toll on Global IT Industry Except Server in 2019-2020: MIC
September 20, 2019

Taipei-based government-backed IT research institute MIC (Market Intelligence& Consulting Institute) of III (Institute for Information Industry) held a press conference on September 18, 2019, prior to the upcoming MIC Forum on September 25-27, to reveal our findings on the development of global IT industry. “The trade war between the United and States and China continues to affect the global IT industry this year, evidenced by the continued declines we found in desktop PCs, laptops, and tablets, except server systems,” says Chris Hung, deputy general director of MIC. “The declines this year are mainly due to slowdown in commercial replacement demand and weakened global economic growth.”

"While desktop PC, notebook PC, and tablet demand is expected to remain soft, the global server industry is anticipated to continue the growth trend in 2020, owing to the rising demand for data storage and computing following the thrive of AI applications. On top of that, 5G is also to give server demands an additional boost next year.”
