Top Three International Streaming Platforms in Taiwan: Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+

The Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) has released a survey on platform preferences and subscription behaviors of streaming video users in Taiwan. The findings show that the top five preferred international platforms are YouTube (73%), Netflix (52%), Disney+ (28%), LINE TV (23%), and iQIYI (19%). Among users subscribing to international platforms, the top three are Netflix (63%), YouTube (41%), and Disney+ (38%).

Note 1: "Long" video includes series, movies, animations, programs, and similar content.
Note 2: 522 effective samples were collected, with 2.9% indicating they have not yet watched long streaming video.

In addition to streaming video user and subscription behaviors, MIC also surveyed the types of video content preferred by overall internet users in Taiwan. The top five long video genres are drama and comedy, both exceeding 40%, with romance, anime, and adventure also popular at about 30%. For short videos, over half enjoy food and travel content, with more than 25% liking micro-movies, movie-related content, entertainment variety, music and MVs, and drama shorts.

Survey Details: Conducted in 4Q 2023 via an online survey, with a valid sample size of 1,068 respondents. The margin of error is ±3.0% at a 95% confidence level.
