Taiwan's NCC (National Communications Commission) announced that six bidders won the 4G network licenses on October 30, as reported by Taiwan's United Daily News. Chunghwa Telecom turned out to be the biggest winner, spending around NT$39.1 billion for a total of 35MHz in bandwidth in 900MHz (B2) and 1800MHz (C2, C5). The C5 section is currently free from operators and can be put in use as soon as early 2014. Far Eastone Telecommunications paid around NT$31.3 billion for 30MHz in bandwidth in 700MHz (A2) and 1800MHz (C3, C4) while rival Taiwan Mobile expended about NT$29.0 billion to pick up 30MHz in 700MHz (A4) and 1800MHz (C1). Asia Pacific Telecom, however, bought 10MHz bandwidth (A1) for NT$6.4 billion. Ambit Microsystems (backed by Foxconn) and Ting Hsin International, both new entrants to the Taiwanese telecom market, gained 20MHz (A3, B3) and 10MHz (B1), respectively. 

The bids totaled NT$118.65 billion (US$4.38 billion; US$=NT$29.384), which was 231% higher than the required NT$35.9 billion minimum bid and set a new high in the Taiwanese telecom history.
