Lenovo to Move PC Production Lines to Japan

Chinese PC maker Lenovo said on December 13, 2011 that it plans to shift ThinkPad and IdeaPad production lines in China and other regions worldwide to Japan, according to a report by Want-Daily of Taiwan. Partial production has been launched by a joint venture, Lenovo NEC Holdings B.V. established on 1 July 2011. Situated in Yamagata, Japan, the joint venture is 51% owned by Lenovo and 49% by NEC. It is reported that Lenovo's move targets at market share increase to 30% in the Japanese PC market.
