Sharp to Discontinue Galapagos Tablet Devices

Sharp announced that it is going to stop sales of two Galapagos tablet models, running on Android OS, later this month, according to a September 16, 2011 report by the Wall Street Journal. Sharp started selling three Galapagos tablet models from December 2010. It is reported that Sharp will stop taking orders for the 5.5-inch and 10.8-inch Galapagos models effective from September 30, 2011. Sharp said that it still plans to sell the Galapagos tablet device to overseas market and will continue the sales of the 7-inch model through eAccess. Sharp also has two Galapagos Smartphones sold in the Japanese market through Softbank.
