August 12, 2011

Sony plans to launch a new range of OEL (Organic Electroluminescent) monitors this month with price tags about 70% lower than existing products, according to an August 5, 2011 report by Nikkei. The new OEL models are projected to target at enterprise users. Sony's current 25-inch OEL monitor costs approximately 2.3 million yen (US$30,065; US$1=76.5 yen), but a monitor from the new OEL line with the same dimension will cost around 600,000 yen (US$7843). It is reported that monitors from the new line will be able to offer sharper images than LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors.
