Sharp Expects to Restart Two LCD Plants in Early May 2011
April 15, 2011

Sharp announced that the company will resume production of two LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) plants as early as May 6, 2011, according to an April 11, 2011 report by the Bloomberg. Sharp is reported to halt the output of the two LCD plants in early April this year due to unstable industrial gas supply. The two plants, located in Kameyama, Mie Prefecture and Sakai, Osaka, focus on large LCD panel production for TVs. According to Sharp, the company currently sees stronger demand for small- and mid-sized LCD panels for Smartphones and other devices than large ones. It is reported that Sharp now plans to concentrate on small- and mid-sized LCD panel production using the gases procured.
