March 11, 2011

LG Electronics announced the installation of its second LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV production line in China on March 6, 2011, according to the Korea Herald. Situated in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, it is reported that the new facility has already begun operation, producing approximately 65,000 LCD TVs per month. Teaming up with LG Display which obtained Chinese government's approval in November 2010 to build LCD plants in the country, LG Electronics established its first LCD TV production line in Nanjing. It is projected that LCD TVs manufactured in Shenyang will be distributed throughout northern China, while the Nanjing unit will manufacture TVs for southern part of China. LG Electronics plans to establish another LCD TV production line in Shenyang by July this year, aiming to increase LCD TV output by twofold to 130,000 units per month, according to the same source.
