June 03, 2010
Japan's Panasonic inaugurated a new LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel plant in Himeji, western Japan, on June 2, 2010, Kyodo News reported. Panasonic was previously scheduled to start production at the new Himeji plant in July 2010. The schedule has been moved three months ahead in order to meet market demand. Following the initial trial production, the Himeji plant is expected to start volume production in July this year, with a projected capacity of 400,500 units per month. Panasonic said that it plans to double the monthly output at the new plant to 810,000 units from February 2011, according to a Reuters report on June 2.
