Fujitsu to Earmark 50 Billion Yen for Cloud Computing

Japanese Fujitsu will inject 50 billion Yen (US$538.8 million; US$1 = 92.8 Yen) in fiscal 2011, which runs from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011, in cloud computing, Reuters reported on April 21. With an aim to boost its cloud computing sales by 100 billion Yen (US$1.08 billion) in fiscal 2011, Fujitsu plans to install more servers and external memory storages at data centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Singapore. In March 2010, NEC also announced that it would invest around 15 billion Yen (US$161.6 million) in cloud computing by upgrading data centers during the period 2010-2012, the Kyoto News reported. Aside from Fujitsu and NEC, the other Japanese company Hitachi also has poured huge investment into cloud computing, according to the Kyoto News again.
