Giantplus to Buy CPT's 3.5G CF Plant

manufacturer CPT (Chunghwa Picture Tubes) signed a deal with mobile phone panel
manufacturer Giantplus Technology on March 17 for the sales of a CF (Color
Filter) plant, according to a Central News Agency report. Located in Hsinchu
County, northern Taiwan, CPT's 3.5G CF plant will be sold to Giantplus for a
price of NT$1.3 billion (US$41.0 million; US$1=NT$31.7). Transfer of related
assets is slated for completion at the end of the second quarter at the earliest. Giantplus
is expected to turn this plant into a facility manufacturing sensors for
use in the production of touch panels at the company's Kunshan plant in China.
