Following its announcement that it will recruit an addition 6,000 workers in October in China, the Singapore-based electronics manufacturer Flextronics recently announced that the company has signed an agreement with the Wuzhong municipal government, the Nikkei Electronics Asia reported on October 16. Pursuant to the agreement, Flextronics will construct a new PC plant, to be located in Wuzhong Export Processing Zone, in a bid to tap the fast-growing PC demand in China. The new plant will consist of a R&D center, to be completed by year-end 2009, and a manufacturing facility, which is slated for completion by year-end 2010.

Aside from Wuzhong, which will become the company's key PC R&D center in China, Flextronics also has another manufacturing facility in Wujiang, Suzhou, and PC R&D centers in Shanghai and Wujiang. Further details regarding the production volume of the new plant and value of the investment, however, were not yet disclosed.
