Taiwanese panel maker Innolux Display has entered into a strategic alliance with Japanese LED (Light Emitting Diode) chipmaker Nichia, with an aim to expand its market presence, the Economic News of Taiwan reported on September 22. Through the alliance, Innolux is able to lower production costs of LED-backlit LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) monitors with the sufficient supply of LED chips from Nichia. Further details of the deal, however, were not yet disclosed. Recently, Innolux has secured orders from HP and Dell, according to the same report, without revealing the value of the orders.
