Motorola, NEC Secure LTE Network Orders from KDDI

Motorola and NEC announced on August 20 that they have jointly signed a supply agreement with KDDI, whereby Motorola and NEC will help the latter deploy an LTE (Long Term Evolution) network, Reuters reported on August 20. Pursuant to the agreement, Motorola will supply LTE equipment and NEC will supply base stations to KDDI, which stated that it would invest around 500 billion Yen (US$5.33 billion; US$= 93.8 Yen) into its LTE network, with an aim to commercially launch LTE services in December 2012. Meanwhile, NEC and Fujitsu have teamed up to supply LTE equipment to NTT DoCoMo, which is expected to launch LTE services in 2010.
