Chinese LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel maker BOE commenced construction on a 6G LCD panel production in Hefei, Anhui Province, on April 13, according to Chinese-language Sina News. Announced in October 2008, the 6G LCD panel project is located in Hefei New Station District. With an overall investment of 17.5 billion RMB (US$2.56 billion; US$1=6.84 RMB), BOE expects to kick off production at the 6G line in the fourth quarter of 2010. Projected capacity is 90,000 sheets of 1500mm?850mm glass substrates per month, for use in 37-inch and smaller LCD TVs and monitors.
