LG Display to Set Up LCD TV Module Plant in Brazil

Korea-based LG Display plans to set up an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV module plant in Brazil, as part of the company's expansion scheme in Latin America, The Korea Times reported on April 6, 2009. LG Display expects to decide on the location this or next month, and the company projects that the plant will be able to start production in 2010. According to said report, this expansion project has been put on hold for a year due to the global economic woe. LG Electronics, parent company of LG Display, has also set up manufacturing facilities in Brazil, including a TV plant in Manaus and a mobile phone and monitor plant in Taubate, a city situated between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
