China's Konka Breaks Ground on LCD Module Production Base in Kunshan

China's Konka Group broke ground on its LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) module production base in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, on February 28, according to a SinoCast report. Located in the China Kunshan Economic and Technical Zone, this new manufacturing facility covers an area of 33.35 hectares. The company has invested 886 million RMB (US$129.44 million; US$1=6.84 RMB) in this project, planning to set up eight production lines, four being pure LCD module production lines and four integrated LCD module and TV production lines. It is projected that Konka's new production base will be capable of manufacturing 7.2 million LCD modules and 3.6 million LCD TVs annually. Furthermore, the company expects to tap backlight component and driver circuit R&D at the Kunshan base in two to three years.
