- Chinese Hisense recently declared that by year-end 2008, the company will launch a total of six models for its TD-SCDMA phone lineup, targeting entry-level, mid-range, and high-end users in response to their specific needs, Sohu News reported on November 7.

To date, the company has unveiled two mid-range TD-SCDMA models, codenamed T66 and T68. Later, the company will introduce a dual-mode dual-standby TD-SCDMA/GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) mobile phone for high-end users. This phone is claimed to be the first of its kind in the industry; a digital mobile-TV equipped TD-SCDMA phone, which is slated to hit the market in November or December, 2008; a HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access)/GSM/GRPS (General Packet Radio Service) /EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) multi-mode data card, which is reported to boast an uplink speed of up to 2.2Mbps, according to the same source.

- Freescale Semiconductor recently announced its plan to help accelerate the deployment of TD-SCMDA networks in China, according to a press release by Freescale on November 4. Deliverables includes StarCore DSPs, PowerQUICC communications processors and RF (Radio Frequency) devices optimized for TD-SCDMA. Furthermore, it is reported that Freescale Semiconductor plans to launch a mobile phone chipset based on TDD (Time Division Duplex) version of LTE (Long Term Evolution) around mid-2009.
