Tianma Microelectronics to Add 4.5G TFT-LCD Line in Wuhan

Following an earlier 4.5G TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panel investment project in Chengdu, China's Shenzhen Tianma Microelectronics recently announced it will add a new 4.5G TFT-LCD panel line in Wuhan, Hubei Province, according to a Hubei Daily report on October 14.

Tianma and Hubei Science & Technology Investment have signed an agreement to invest 1.6 billion RMB (US$234.0 million; US$1=6.84 RMB) to construct the Wuhan production line. Total investment is expected to reach 4.0 billion RMB (US$585.1 million), and Tianma and Hubei Science & Technology Investment will hold a stake of 10% and 90%, respectively. The Wuhan line is expected to sport a monthly manufacturing capacity of 30,000 730mmx920 mm glass substrates as well as 90,000 730mm x 920mm color filters, according to China Knowledge.
