Leading Chinese CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) maker Irico Group Electronics Company announced on October 7 that the company will build a 6G TFT-LCD panel production line in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai Securities News reported. It is estimated that the first-phase construction will take about two years, and Irico will inject 14.6 billion RMB (US$2.14 billion; US$1=6.82 RMB) initially in this project. The company projects an annual output of 4.37 million 32- and 37-inch TFT-LCD TV panels when the production line swings into operation.
