LG to Resume Full-capacity LCD Panel Production, Raise LCD Module Output in Guangzhou

LG Display, which announced a 10% reduction in its LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel production starting from July 2008, plans to resume full-capacity production from October, the Korea Times reported on September 21. Moreover, the company's original schedule for its new 8G LCD panel plant to go on stream in the first half of 2009 will proceed as planned, according to the Korea Times report.

In related news, LG announced on September 23 that the company will raise the LCD module production capacity at its existing facility in Guangzhou, China, to 20 million units by year-end 2009, according to Sina Tech. At the same time, the construction of a second LCD module plant is currently under way on the same premises. It is estimated that with the completion of the second plant, LG's LCD module output in Guangzhou will reach 40 million units by year-end 2009.
