Taiwan's AUO plans to set up a new subsidiary targeting the domestic LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV panel market in China, according to Taiwan's Economic Daily News. It is reported that AUO's board has approved a US$20 million investment in this new subsidiary, tentatively named BriView Electronics, according to XFN-ASIA. The new company will deal in RMB and manufacture panels for the Chinese LCD makers, as opposed to AUO's existing LCD module plants in Xiamen and Suzhou, which mainly engage in export businesses.
