Kodak Digital Photo Frames Reportedly Adopt CMEL's OLED Panels
August 29, 2008
It is reported that US-based Kodak has signed a supply agreement with Taiwanese OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) panel maker CMEL (Chi Mei EL), whereby Kodak will adopt CMEL's 7.6-inch OLED panels for its digital photo frames, according to Sina News.

CMEL's 7.6-inch OLED panels - which can also be used in other applications such as automotive electronics and UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) - are slated for mass production in September 2008 and are projected to hit the market in time for the year-end holiday demand. The production line is expected to turn out a monthly output of 100,000 OLED panels initially. Meanwhile, CMEL's second 3.5G production line is scheduled to kick off production at the start of 2009, according to the same report.

Aside from the 7.6-inch panels, CMEL is also capable of manufacturing 400,000 2.4-inch OLED panels per month. Offerings that have already entered mass production include 2-, 2.4-, 2.8-, 3.4-, and 4.3-inch OLED panels for use in mobile phones and MP3 players, Taiwan's Commercial Times reported on August 29.
