Taiwan's AUO revealed on April 22 the company's plan to build an advanced LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel plant manufacturing panels for use in 50-inch or larger LCD TVs, Taiwan's Economic Daily reported. AUO's new LCD panel plant, either a 10G or 11G one, is projected to start mass production during the period 2010 to 2011. Financial details were not yet disclosed, though.

According to the same report, AUO has recently obtained permission to construct its second 8.5G production line at the Houli base of the CTSP (Central Taiwanese Science Park). Meanwhile, its first 8.5G line, also located in the CTSP, is slated for equipment installation in the fourth quarter of 2008, trial production in the second quarter of 2009, and mass production in the second half of 2009.
