Korean LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel maker LG Display - formerly known as LPL (LG.Philips LCD) - revealed on March 22 that it is evaluating a strategic alliance with Taiwanese display OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)/ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) AmTRAN Technology, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported.

According to the Economic Daily News report, LG Display has already signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with AmTRAN. The partnership between the two companies may take various forms: LG Display may acquire a 30% stake in AmTRAN or form a new venture together with AmTRAN and Vizio.

LG Display expects to reach a formal decision by the end of March, also according to Economic Daily News.
