HannStar Starts Supplying 19-inch LCD Panels to LG Display

As part of the LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel supply contract signed in December 2007, Taiwanese LCD panel maker HannStar has begun delivering 19-inch panels to Korean LG Display, formerly known as LPL (LG.Philips LCD). HannStar's full-year shipment volume for LG Display is expected to reach a maximum of 3.5 million units, for an estimated amount of N$15 billion (US$489 million; US$1=NT$30.6), according to a report by Taiwan's Commercial Times.

Presently in the initial phase of their cooperation, HannStar has been delivering 19-inch LCD monitor panels to LG Display, with a monthly shipment volume of 100,000 to 200,000 units. Other new products are being jointly designed and will be shipped over the next three quarters of 2008, according to the same report.
