Compal, Ritek Form Strategic Alliance for Touch Panels
March 21, 2008
Taiwan-based Compal Electronics has made an investment in AimCore Technology, a Taiwanese maker of ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) glass for touch panels, and obtained a seat in the company's board of directors, according to a report by Chinese-language Economic Daily News. AimCore is a business unit spun off from Taiwanese optical storage media maker Ritek in 2007.

Currently Compal has a touch panel manufacturing unit SWENC Technology. By investing in AimCore and thus forming a strategic alliance with Ritek, Compal is expected to secure the material supply for its touch panel business and enhance its cooperation with Ritek. Further details have not been disclosed yet.
