Innolux to Build LCD Module Plant, LCD Product Assembly Line in China

Taiwan's Innolux Display plans to invest more than NT$600 million (US$19.6 million; US$1=NT$30.6) in establishing an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) module plant in Xiamen as well as an LCD monitor and TV assembly line in Jiashan, Zhejiang Province, according to a report by Taiwan's Commercial Times on March 11.

Innolux's new company in Xiamen, named Innocom Technology, will be manufacturing LCD modules for use in Innolux's 6G LCD panel production. Innolux's 6G LCD panel plant - located in Chunan, Taiwan - is scheduled to start volume production in the second quarter of 2009, with an estimated capacity of 90,000 units initially, which is projected to reach 120,000 units in the second phase, according to the same report. Overall investment in Innolux's 6G LCD panel plant is estimated at NT$80 billion (US$2.6 billion).
