AMD to Establish R&D Center in Chengdu, China

US-based CPU (Central Processing Unit) provider AMD has reportedly set up a subsidiary in Chengu of Sichuan Province, China, according to a report by Xinhua News Agency on February 1, 2008. AMD's detailed plans for the Chengdu subsidiary include the establishment of an R&D center there.

Located in Wuhou District of Chengdu, the R&D center will be AMD's fourth in China - after the ones in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen - and is expected to rank as the second largest overall in Asia.

Programs to be covered in AMD's Chengdu R&D center are projected to comprise IC design, global CPU platform R&D, as well as mobile product design.
