Matsushita Debuts 150-inch PDP TV, Partners with Google
January 11, 2008
At the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Matsushita demonstrated on January 7 a 150-inch PDP (Plasma Display Panel) TV, with a screen size the equivalent of nine 50-inch PDT TVs, surpassing the 103-inch model launched by the company in 2007 as the largest TV worldwide.

According to a Nikkei report, Matsushita's 150-inch PDP TV sports a 4Kx2K resolution, equivalent to that of a 75-inch full HD (High Definition) PDP or four times that of full HD 1080p picture quality. Commercialization of this product is projected to start within fiscal year 2009, which runs from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

Also at the CES, Matsushita announced its partnership with Google to launch VIERA PZ850, a new line of Internet-connected HD PDP TVs enabling users to access YouTube and Picasa Web functions on TV, according to a Nikkei report. Google and YouTube will set up special servers for streaming videos and images to Matsushita's PDP TVs. Matsushita will be responsible for sales, marketing, as well as development of a global copyright management system for online videos.
