Radiant, Coretronics to Manufacture LCD Backlight Units in Guangzhou

According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, Taiwanese LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) backlight unit manufacturers Radiant Opto-Electronics and Coretronics both announced production plans based in Guangzhou, China. Radiant is scheduled to kick off mass production at its new Guangzhou facility in 2008, mainly catering to the demand of LCD panel makers LPL and CMO.
Meanwhile, Coretronics revealed in a filing to the Taiwan Stock Exchange an investment of US$12 million in an LCD backlight unit manufacturing facility, tentatively known as Guangzhou Canyu Optical. Coretronics' investment in the Guangzhou facility is expected to be made in the third or fourth quarter of 2007.
