S-LCD Starts Volume Production at 8G Plant

S-LCD, a joint venture between Samsung and Sony, announced volume production at the world's first 8G LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel plant and started shipping LCD panels on August 28, 2007. Measuring 2,200x2,500mm, panels manufactured at S-LCD's 8G plant are expected to be used mainly in 46- and 52-inch LCD TVs. S-LCD aims to boost its 8G capacity to 50,000 units per month by year-end 2007.
