Lenovo to Add PC Plants in India, Mexico

According to a Xinhua News report, Lenovo announced on July 26 that it plans to build two PC plants in India and Mexico respectively. After its first plant in India's Pondicherry, Lenovo' second Indian plant will be located in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with an investment of about US$11 million, to be spread over five years. This facility will manufacture both desktop and notebook PCs, and is expected to begin operations in September 2007 at the earliest. Annual capacity is estimated at two million units.

 

Also, the company plans to invest approximately US$20 million to set up a new plant in Monterrey, Mexico. The new facility, encompassing an area of 260,000 square feet, is scheduled to kick off operations in mid-2008, with a projected capacity of five million PCs per year.
