Innolux to Build Next-Generation LCD Plant for NT$80 Bln in Early 2008

According to a Reuters report, Taiwanese LCD monitor maker Innolux Display announced on July 25 that it plans to construct a next-generation plant to make TFT-LCD (Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) panels for use in LCD TVs and monitors. The company stated that it will inject approximately NT$80 billion (US$ 2.4 billion; US$1 = NT$32.9) into the planned facility, scheduled to kick off construction in the first quarter of 2008. Without disclosing further details of the plant site, the company is considering 6G or 7.5G technology for the new plant, according to the Reuters report. Separately, Innolux also plans to set up a domestic subsidiary for NT$500 million (US$15.2 million).
