CMEL Begins Shipping 2-inch AM OLED Panels

According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, CMEL (Chi Mei EL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CMO, began shipping two-inch AM OLED (Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) panels to Chinese and Japanese customers starting in May. Currently CMEL's AM OLED panels are manufactured utilizing parts of CMO's 3.5G capacity, with a monthly output of 500,000 units. CMEL has achieved a yield rate of 60% for its AM OLED panels, which is expected to improve to 80% by the year-end. According to the same report, CMEL is presently sampling 2.4- and 2.8-inch panels.
