The Philippines Approves TI's US$1 Bln Plant

The Philippine government announced on May 3 that US-based Texas Instruments has finalized its decision to set up a new chip testing and assembly plant in the Philippines instead of China for US$1 billion, to be located at the Clark economic zone, northern Manila. TI stated that construction of this plant start in mid-2007, and will be completed by the end of 2008, aiming to boost the output of the company's first plant in Baguio City, the northern Philippines.
