CMO to Kick off Trial Production in Nanhai LCM Plant in July, 2007

According to a SinoCast report, Taiwanese CMO (Chi Mei Optoelectronics) is ready for trial production at its Nanhai LCM (LCD Module) plant in the Guangdong Province, slated to begin in July 2007. Full-scale operations are expected to commence later in August or September, with monthly capacity reaching one million units by April 2008. Second-phase expansion at the Nanhai facility is scheduled to start in the second half of 2008, aiming to double monthly capacity in the second half of 2009.

 

Presently CMO is in talks with Hisense and TCL for the two TV makers to set up plants in the vicinity, according to the same report. CMO's Nanhai LCM plant is devoted to LCD TV applications and will produce modules for LCDs ranging from 26 to 57 inches.
