Intel, Haier, Suning Form Strategic Partnership for Value-line PCs
April 04, 2007
Intel recently announced a strategic partnership with China's Haier Group and consumer electronics retailer Suning to tap the value-line PC segment, combining their respective advantages in chip technology, manufacturing, and marketing. Under the agreement reached by the three parties, Intel will provide CPUs at a preferential price - 20% less than the standard market price - to Haier, which will design and manufacture PCs to be sold via Suning's channels. As part of this cooperation, starting on March 31, 2007 more than 100,000 units of Haier-branded desktop and notebook PCs will begin sales at Suning's 600 stores throughout China.
