Intel Begins Shipping Classmate PC to Emerging Markets

On March 22, Intel announced that it has begun shipping its value-line notebook PCs, known as Classmate PCs, for school students in emerging markets, with the first batch to be shipped to Brazil and Mexico. The company stated that this year this value-line model, based on Celeron M processors with a price tag of around US$300, will also undergo pilot programs to be held in more than 25 countries, including Chile, China, India, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam.
