Lenovo ThinkPad to Incorporate Avaya Softphone Solution

Lenovo and Avaya have forged a partnership to collaborate on IP (Internet Protocol) and unified communications for mobile computing. Lenovo's ThinkPad notebook PCs will be integrated with Avaya's Softphone VoIP (Voice over IP) solution, while Avaya will customize its communications software to ThinkPad's form factor as well as features such as fingerprint-biometric security and ThinkLight illumination. The first batch of Softphone-enabled ThinkPad models is expected to hit the market by the third quarter of 2007.
