Matsushita to Build Fifth PDP Plant in Japan

According to a recent Nikkei report, Matsushita plans to construct its fifth PDP (Plasma Display Panel) plant in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture of Japan for an investment of 280 billion Yen (US$ 2.3 billion; US$1 = 120.5 Yen). This new facility will be located near the company's second Amagasaki plant, and is slated to begin construction in November 2007, with production slated for May 2009. With an annual capacity of ten million units, the new fab will boost Matsushita's PDP capacity by 100%.
