Samsung to Build US$100mln Plant in Russia in 1H 2007

Korean Yonhap News Agency recently reported that Samsung is planning to invest US$100 million in an electronic appliance plant in Russia. Construction on this facility will not begin until the first half of 2007. Initially, the plant is projected to manufacture plasma display panels and liquid crystal displays starting from 2009. Tentative plans for the plant's location include Obninsk outside Kaluga, some 110 kilometers from Moscow.
