Dell to Build PC Plant in Tamil Nadu, India

Dell has signed a preliminary agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to build its first PC manufacturing facility in India. Located in the Sriperumbudur Hi-Tech Park near Chennai, the plant is projected to manufacture desktop PCs initially and start operation in the first half of 2007. A total investment of US$60 million has been planned for the facility, with US$30 million to be injected in the first five years. Further details concerning head count and production capacity have not been disclosed yet.
