Toshiba to Build LCD TV Plant in Poland
September 14, 2006
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that Japanese Toshiba is planning to set up an LCD TV plant in Wroclaw, Poland. Slated to start production in mid-2007, the plant is projected to yield 1.5 to 2 million units of 32-inch or larger LCD TVs by 2009 for sale in Europe. Toshiba is to invest 6 billion Yen (US$51 million; US$1 = 117.6 Yen) in building the facility and employ some 1,000 workers. LCD panels to be used at this facility will be procured from a nearby LPL plant which is currently under construction and from an IPS Alpha Technology plant in the Czech Republic.
