Samsung Develops 3-Inch VGA LCD Panel for Digital Still Cameras
August 11, 2006
Samsung announced it has developed a new 3-inch LCD panel for DSCs (Digital Still Camera) capable of displaying the VGA resolution (640x480 pixels), which Samsung claims is the first of its kind. Samsung's new LCD utilizes the ITU-R601 interface standard for CRT TVs and operates at 30-Hz refresh rates with a power consumption of 60 mW. Moreover, the new device adopts a low-power dot-inversion scheme to minimize image flicker. This 3-inch VGA LCD can also find use in portable media players and other high-definition devices. Samsung will demonstrate its new offering at IMID (International Meeting of Information Display) 2006 in Daegu, Korea on August 23 and it expects to start mass production of the panel in the first half of 2007.
