Sumida, Shintex to Form LCM JV and Set Up Plant in Guangzhou, China

Japan-based Sumida and Shintex have formed a 200-million-Yen (US$1.7 million; US$1 = 116 Yen) joint venture for manufacturing small LCD modules for mobile phones. This joint venture is to set up a new plant in Guangzhou, China, which is expected to start production in November 2006. The initial output will be aimed at Chinese and Indian mobile phone markets. The venture has set a sales target of 500 million Yen (US$4.3 million) for 2007.
