Samtel, which is the largest CRT TV maker in India, has planned to start producing PDPs (Plasma Display Panel) before late 2006. It expects to roll out several models for industrial usage and TVs in late 2006 and start to provide the panels to TV makers in 2007. The company projects that domestic PDP manufacturing in India will help bring down prices of flat-panel TVs and thereby increase their market penetration rate.
