According to an announcement by Taiwanese Cheertek and Winbond, the two companies have signed an agreement whereby Cheertek will acquire Winbond's LCD driver IC unit for approximately NT$420 million. Currently, Cheertek already has LCD TV controller chips and demodulation ICs in its product lineup, and by acquiring Winbond's unit, the company hopes it will be able to offer complete LCD TV solutions to its customers, including front-end and back-end chipsets.
