Korea's OLED Market to See 150% Growth in 2006

Korea's OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) research group OLEDNET has forecasted that the Korean OLED market will see 150% growth in 2006, reaching 84.7 million units, compared to 55.6 million units in the prior year. Of the amount, PM (Passive-Matrix) OLED will account for 81.2 million units; AM (Active-Matrix) OLED for 3.5 million units. With increasing investment from Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese enterprises, coupled with the initiation of Samsung SDI and Taiwanese AUO's AM OLED lines, shipment share of AM OLED is expected to hit 13% from 1% in 2005. According to OLEDNET, 53.6% of OLED will be used for handsets, with 31.4% for MP3 players.
